Abstract
The aim of this research was to know whether social skills training could reduce aggressive behaviour of playgroup children aged 4 to 6 years. Participants were children (N = 40) of Grade A and B, consisting of 10 experimental group children and 10 control group children in each grade. Data were collected through class observations, moral and behaviour evaluations, teacher's daily annotations, and interviews. Subject matter of the training focuses on basic social skills, social relationship skills, expressing feelings skills, and conflict management skills. Training were conducted during 1 month, 4 meetings a week, and lasting 45 minutes at each meeting. Data analysis was performed applying ANOVA-Repeated measures. Research results show a significant outcome hence it can be concluded that the social skills training could reduce children's aggressive behaviour.
Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji apakah pelatihan social skills dapat menurunkan agresivitas anak dengan rentang usia 4 - 6 tahun. Subjek penelitian (N = 40) adalah anak TK A (10 anak kelompok eksperimen dan 10 orang kelompok kontrol) dan anak TK B (10 anak kelompok eksperimen dan 10 anak kelompok kontrol. Data diperoleh melalui observasi kelas, penilaian moral dan perilaku anak, catatan harian (anekdot) guru, dan wawancara. Materi pelatihan difokuskan pada keterampilan sosial dasar, keterampilan dalam menjalin relasi sosial, keterampilan mengungkapkan perasaan, dan keterampilan mengelola konflik. Pelatihan diberikan selama 1 bulan, 4 kali pertemuan tiap minggu, dengan durasi waktu 45 menit untuk tiap pertemuan. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan ANOVA-Repeated measures. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai bermakna, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pelatihan keterampilan sosial yang diberikan dapat menurunkan perilaku agresif anak.
