Abstract

This study applied the structural equation model (SEM) approach to test the author’s model in managing personal and social resources, which became mediators of the implications of life stres- sor events towards detected depression symptoms. The formed model included problem solving stra- tegy variable as the correlation mediator between stressful events towards personal and social resour- ces and depression. Participants were youth (N = 2586) living in Yogyakarta Special District. Result of the quantitative data analysis through LISREL 8.30 reveals that the formed model has a satisfying accuracy. All model accuracies indices are appropriate with the anticipated criteria. Through two mo- dels which are formed and based on gender, the man model (M) are responsible for 68% and the women model (W) are responsible for 86% variations in the emergence of the depression symptoms.
