Abstract
The aim of this research was to arrange the receptive language development instrument for children aged 8 to 36 months. Receptive language development is the ability to understand what people tell them and to respond it correctly. This research adopted the language development theories, such as Owens (1996), Bowen (1998), Child Development Institute (1998), American Academy of Pediatrics (2000), Oesterreich (2004), Arnold Palmer Hospital & Howard Phillips Center (2008), and William (2008). The participants were children aged 8 to 36 months (N=112) during assessment period and (N=95) try out period. The reliability score is rπ= -0,222 to 0,682. The result shows that the instrument which the author had constructed might be used to separate children with normal re- ceptive language development and children with receptive language development delay.
