Publication Ethics
Lex Discipulus Law Review (LDLR) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Law, University of Surabaya. This journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures to avoid any type of plagiarism or unethical behaviour. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the act of publishing in LDLR: the authors, editors, peer reviewers, and the publisher.
Publisher Responsibilities
The Faculty of Law, Universitas Surabaya, as the publisher of LDLR, is committed to ensuring:
- Editorial independence and integrity are upheld.
- Commercial interests (such as advertising and reprints) do not influence editorial decisions.
- Support is provided to editors, reviewers, and authors throughout the publication process.
- Collaboration with other publishers or journals in cases of necessary clarification, correction, or retraction.
Duties of Editors
- Publication Decisions. The editorial board of LDLR is responsible for deciding which submitted articles are suitable for publication. Decisions are based on the article’s significance, originality, clarity, validity, and relevance to the journal's scope. Editors may consult other editors or reviewers in making these decisions.
- Fair Play. Editors will evaluate manuscripts based solely on academic merit, without consideration of authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political ideology.
- Confidentiality. Editors and editorial staff will treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents and will not disclose information about a manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and other editorial advisors.
- Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest. Editors must not use unpublished materials from a submitted manuscript in their own research without the author’s explicit written consent. They must also avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.
- Review of Manuscripts. Editors must ensure an initial assessment of manuscripts of originality, organize a fair, transparent peer review process, assign a qualified reviewers free from conflict of interest, and clearly inform authors about the review process and indicate which parts of the journal are peer-reviewed.
Publishing in LDLR plays a crucial role in the development and dissemination of legal knowledge. The peer-review process reflects the quality and integrity of academic work and its supporting institutions. To maintain this standard, all parties involved in the publication process must agree to and uphold these ethical principles.
