SELF-EFFICACY DAN FLOW AKADEMIK DITINJAU DARI TEMPORAL MOTIVATION THEORY PADA MAHASISWA FAKULTAS PSIKOLOGI
Abstract
Flow akademik merupakan suatu kondisi ketika individu merasa fokus, menikmati aktivitas akademik, dan didorong dengan adanya motivasi intrinsik. Dalam penelitian Salanova, Bakker, dan Llorens (2006), flow di bidang kerja berhubungan positif dengan self-efficacy. Subjek penelitian tersebut terdiri atas 258 guru dari 24 sekolah yang berbeda, sehingga lingkungan subjek berbeda-beda. Selain itu adapun peneliti sebelumnya yang telah meneliti hubungan kedua variabel ini menggunakan kerangka berpikir temporal motivation theory (TMT). Namun, TMT hanya digunakan sebagai kerangka teoritis dan belum diuji secara empirik, maka dari itu peneliti ingin mengujinya secara empirik. Populasi penelitian adalah mahasiswa angkatan 2012, yang berjumlah 166. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik non-random sampling, yaitu purposive non-random sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menyatakan, terdapat hubungan positif antara self-efficacy akademik dan flow akademik pada mahasiswa dengan nilai korelasi 0.295. Dapat diketahui juga bahwa TMT tidak memperkuat atau memperlemah hubungan antara dua variabel tersebut. Untuk memperbesar kemungkinan terjadinya flow akademik, perlu ditingkatkan self-efficacy akademik dengan cara mendapatkan nilai yang baik mulai dari semester awal karena banyaknya pengalaman keberhasilan akan meningkatkan self-efficacy.
