Abstract

Abstrak- Low body esteem dan body image dissatisfaction merupakan permasalahan sosial yang banyak dialami oleh remaja putri usia 14-17 tahun. Berdasarkan teori dan penelitian terdahulu, low body esteem dan body image dissatisfaction disebabkan oleh internalisasi standar kecantikan palsu oleh media yang diperkuat oleh lingkungan sosial seseorang. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media exposure dan psikoedukasi melalui pesan dari media untuk membentuk cognitive dissonance tentang standar kecantikan untuk membentuk percaya diri dan menurunkan tingkat body dissatisfaction pada remaja putri dengan menggunakan metode eksperimen pretest posttest control group design. Eksperimen dilakukan sebanyak 6 kali sesi bertujuan untuk memberikan efek yang bersifat jangka panjang bagi subjek karena pesan yang diberikan dapat lebih terinternalisasi. Pengukuran DV dilakukan denga menggunakan skala body esteem dan skala body image. Hasil penelitian menyatakan adanya pengaruh yang signifikan dari pemberian treatment media exposure terhadap peningkatan body esteem dan body image satisfaction.

Abstract- low body esteem and body image dissatisfaction ia a common problem among 14-17 years adolescence girl. According to the theories and apst research, low body esteem and body image dissatisfaction caused by artificial beauty internalisation by the consumption media and social influence that cause upward social comparison. The aim of this research is to figure out the effect of media esposure artificial beauty video to increase body esteem and body image satisfaction among them by creating the cognitive dissonance of beauty standard. This experimental research used pretest posttest control group design. This Experiment results gift a significant result and large efect size to increase the body esteem and body image satisfaction amog the adolescents.
