AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN DAN KULIT BATANG KAYU MANIS (Cinnamomum burmannii (Nees & Th. Nees)) TERHADAP Escherichia coli DAN Staphylococcus aureus
Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak etanol daun dan kulit batang kayu manis Cinnamomum burmannii (Nees & Th. Nees) terhadap Escherichia coli dan Staphylococus aureus. Serbuk kering daun dan kulit batang kayu manis diekstraksi secara modifikasi maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 80%. Uji antibakteri dengan metode difusi agar menggunakan cylinder cup. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak etanol daun kayu manis dengan konsentrasi 300.000 bpj, 350.000 bpj, 400.000 bpj, 450.000 bpj, dan 500.000 bpj menghasilkan diameter hambatan terbesar 0,994 cm pada konsentrasi 500.000 bpj terhadap Escherichia coli dan 1,214 cm pada konsentrasi 500.000 bpj terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Sedangkan pada ekstrak etanol kulit batang kayu manis dengan konsentrasi 100.000 bpj; 130.000 bpj; 150.000 bpj; 180.000 bpj; dan 200.000 bpj tidak memberikan daya hambat pada Escherichia coli dan diperoleh diameter hambatan terbesar 1,235 cm pada konsentrasi 200.000 bpj terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Ekstrak etanol daun kayu manis dapat menghambat baik Escherichia coli maupun Staphylococcus aureus, sedangkan ekstrak etanol kulit batang kayu manis hanya dapat menghambat Staphylococcus aureus.
