Author’s Guidelines
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors who do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references were provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
- If the research involves human participants, the authors confirm that informed consent was obtained and that appropriate ethical approval has been secured under institutional or national research ethics standards. (Check Policy and Ethical Considerations)
Reference Style
All submissions to Meraki: Journal of Creative Industries must follow the IEEE citation style for references. Authors should ensure that all sources cited in the text are listed in the reference list, and vice versa.
Key points for IEEE referencing:
- Citations are numbered in square brackets in the order in which they appear in the text, for example [1], [2], [3], etc.
- The reference list should be numbered and appear at the end of the manuscript, with entries listed in the order they are cited in the text.
- Use the appropriate format for each type of source (journal article, book, conference paper, website, etc.).
Example formats:
Books:
[1] J. K. Author, Title of Book, xth ed. City of Publisher, (only U.S. State if in USA): Publisher, year.
Journal Articles:
[2] J. K. Author, “Title of paper,” Title of Journal, vol. x, no. x, pp. xxx–xxx, Month, year.
Conference Papers:
[3] J. K. Author, “Title of paper,” in Proceedings of the Title of Conference, Location, year, pp. xxx–xxx.
Websites:
[4] Author(s), “Title of webpage,” Website name. [Online]. Available: URL. [Accessed: Month day, year].
In-text citation example:
As described in [2], the role of creative industries continues to expand.
Authors are strongly encouraged to check that their references are complete and follow the IEEE style consistently. Incomplete or incorrectly formatted references may delay the review process.
