Vol. 38 No. 2 (2023): ANIMA Indonesian Psychological Journal (Vol. 38, No. 2, 2023)

Indonesia has great potential to contribute to global psychological development with its population of over 278 million people spread across more than 17,000 islands. The national motto "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" or "Unity in Diversity," highlights the importance of valuing diversity in the country's rich cultural landscape. However, Indonesian researchers face challenges in conducting and publishing internationally recognized scientific research due to language barriers, limited access to global research networks, and a predominant inward focus.

To address these challenges, there are two main initiatives we are promoting. First, we promote bilateral, international, and even global collaborations in psychology research, whether in comprehensive collaborations (covering all aspects from grant proposal to final report) or partial collaborations (focused on specific aspects such as ideas, methods, or manuscript writing).

Secondly, ANIMA Indonesian Psychological Journal has refined its aims and scope to publish original articles, reviews, and other scientific communications that advance psychological science and practices that explore individual differences and societal change in education, health, and organizational settings. The journal welcomes diverse research approaches, recognizing the multidimensional nature of various psychological phenomena.

Our objective is to preserve Indonesia's distinctive viewpoint while incorporating it with global perspectives and standards. Our primary objective is to enhance the expertise and proficiency of our authors, thereby ensuring the ongoing enhancement of their scholarly contributions. To benefit our readers, we offer comprehensive research reports in bilingual Indonesian-English versions. These efforts are in line with our commitment to live up to the motto "Unity in Diversity" by writing scientific pieces that help authors, readers, and other stakeholders advance psychological theory and practice forward together.
